Hi everybody,

I got this EGF lately and I am not sure about the model.

The DiMarzio pickups are original and I am not even sure, if the top is solid or not. I scratched off some paint in the pickup cavity and I can't see the joint. The one dent on top is pretty deep and there isn't a visible joint as well. Strange.

What do you guys think?!

It has the thin Greco logo, so not an 1800 if those were your thoughts. Top looks like veneer to me. Got any pics of the cavities?

Jacco the tuner buttons look like our fake58s

Looks like an EGF 1000, with the double white DiMarzios.
Could be Brazilian board too, if it is a 1980 serial.

Or maybe I need glasses, this EGF looks like a 1000 to me too, but maybe I'm missing something.. :D

Hi, thanks for the replies.

I wasn't thinking about an 1800. More about 850 or less.

It is another one of those strange Grecos, where you cant really tell what model it is.

Do you guys think it is brazilian?! Isn't it to bright for one?!

Doesn't look like brazilian.
Nothing strange if it isn't.
I had a couple of 1000's and one 1200 with indian rw.
Not too common but they show up every once in a while.

Sorry for hijacking this topic,
but what's do you mean by 'thin logo'; what's the difference between this logo and the one on the 1800 series? any pics?

The thick logo was only found on highest end Greco models pre Mint Collection.
In both 1980 & 1981 ALL EGF1800s have the thicker logo and so far I've found that in 1980 ALL EGF1200s seem to have this too. But somewhere in 1981 this changes to the thinner style for the EGF1200s.
All models below that in 1980 & 1981 have the thinner logo style.

Regarding EGCs, only the 1980/1981 EGC1000 has the thicker logo.

Right at the start of 1982 the logo changes to the Mint Collection logo style although the Mint Collection catalog is released in april of that year.
But there's also a difference between lower end and higher end; lower end have the white logo, EG59-100 and up have the cashew coloured logo.

Great pics Jacco, but I'm not certain it is that straight forward re: Mint Collection inlay colors.

I had a 1982 transitional Super Real plain top and 1983 EG MC with Screamin' pickups original to the guitar, and both had gold - cashew Greco inlays, not pearl white.
