    Tokai Korean J-200 Acoustic Review

I've had my Tok J-200 for a couple of years now and it's stayed solid as a brick house. The action remains low and fast and the sound has good projection and is well balanced - including the 'wooden' sound you speak of. It's definitely worth a look if you've been disappointed by the Epiphone...

Taxes & Duties on a guitar shipped from Canada to USA?

Probably the thing to do is talk to Mike Palermo at Mike's Music and ask him if there are any import duties on the shipment. I found him to be a very straight shooter when I bought my guitar from him. Hope it works out CM

Taxes & Duties on a guitar shipped from Canada to USA?

Hi I bought a Tokai J200 from Mike's Music last December. I paid $29 on top of the eBay sale price to get it shipped to Massachusetts. No other charges. CM

Just got a LS320, what can I expect?

Hey Felipe Welcome to the forum. When you get it, we want all the details - a full blown product review. :o I think you can expect a lot from a 320. Congratulations. CM

    Love Rock LS-150

This particular cherry sunburst is a little harsh for my taste. If it was more of a violin finish I'd be tempted to get in there are try to cut a deal. Either that or rob a bank. I'm with Barry on the flametop, though...just the way I like it. Was the 150 a production model or a custom...

    Love Rock LS-150

Hi Can anyone offer me some information on the Love Rock LS-150? I'm not familiar with the model but I'm looking at one at http://www.guitargai.com/html_folder/gai_otherCA3.html# Was the 150 a handmade instrument similar to the LS-220 and 320 models? What materials were used (solid maple...

    56 Gold Top Replica

Hello All I found this on eBay and would appreciate any feedback from those in the know. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2384&item=2528914975 Are the P90 pups on this decent? What's a reasonable price, etc. As always, thanks for the help CM

    Um... it's happened again

I suggest we offer our services to Tokai to do the distressing on their Relic models for them. They could send us, say, some LS200's or 320's in pristine condtion and get back nice Relic versions in a maybe a year or two. All they pay is the shipping. What do you think, Ned. Have we got that...

    Tokai J160E

On the contrary. You will find the build quality on the Korean Toks to be quite good. My guess is the reason for divorce is more likely based upon "WHAT? Another Tokai??" CM

Korea or Japan?? how to date Tokai J-200 copy

Did I say Phil? I meant Tom. Sorry... My J200 is only a couple of months old, so I would assume they are still available with the open book headstock. CM

Korea or Japan?? how to date Tokai J-200 copy

Hi Phil Sorry. I should have answered that question on my last post. My Korean J200 does have the Gibson style open book headstock. The headstock is not bound, though the neck and body are. Hope this helps CM

Korea or Japan?? how to date Tokai J-200 copy

Hi When I purchase my J200 from Mike's Music in Canada, it arrived with a "Made in Korea' sticker on the back of the headstock. That was the only indication of its origin. As far as I can tell, there is no serial number anywhere on the guitar. My Korean was $358US shipped (no case) from...

    Tokai Korean J-200 Acoustic Review

Hi Phil This may be a redundant post - if so, my apologies. I prefer the Tokai J200 to the Epiphone model. I have 2 friends with the Epi J200 and neither are as nice as the Tokai. Part of that is the natural finish on the Tok, which features the flamed back & sides nicely. Regarding your...

Guitar Finishing. N/C versus PU. Who's side are you on?

I think the poly finish is popular with makers now because it can be done fast and give a nice gloss finish. Nitro has a lower solids content, so it goes on thinner and requires more applications to build up the finish properly. Whether the type of finish would impact the sound of a solidbody is...

    Tokai Korean J-200 Acoustic Review

I received this guitar today after purchasing it on eBay from Mike's Music in Canada. Price, including shipping and insurance, was $358 US. No case included. Fit & Finish: Construction on this guitar is very clean. Neck/body joint is clean and tight. The finish is natural, so crummy glue joints...
