    Mizuno Tokai

Surprised a bit no one offered up any insight. Thankfully a buddy was able to give me some info. Seems the Mizuno exclusive models are spec'd from a shop in Nagoya. The M-59 indicates it is patterned after a '59 LP - not much of a stretch there, uh. It is perhaps on par with a LS-260. Good but...

    Mizuno Tokai

I have been looking around a bit to pick up another Tokai and am leaning towards a higher end or vintage model. I have seen a couple exclusive models with a H. Mizuno name on the headstock. M-59 on the truss rod cover plate too. Does anyone have any knowledge on them ? My internet searching...

Random shop in Tokyo, and so many Tokais

Boy, I've been there a bunch and can't wait to get back. It is browsing heaven and there are deals just waiting to be found. Ochanimizu and around the Shibuya station are just tons of guitar shops. For GAS junkies it is almost worth the ticket price to vacation there. Best to take: 1. good...

Found!! A Loverock quilt LS-5 w/Holmes for sale at Ikebe!

The P/E LS-5 is based on the LS-105 (from 2008, may be a higher number today) veneer quilt top. It does sport the higher end Tom Holmes P/U's. To read the old Pacifix website info they stated the wood selections are higher spec trying to separate themselves from the standard line Tokai's...

    Why the weight differences ??

Back to the original topic, this is truly the kind of factual weight info that is needed. Thanks a bunch for posting. Just recently I stopped by an Ikebe guitar store in Shibuya (Tokyo), Japan to check out the Lester weights. It was interesting to see they have all the new Tokai Pacifix...

    Why the weight differences ??

If not for Gibson, the followers, copiers, replicators, others would not be here. Sure they design and make there own good guitars but let's not forget where the best designs started from. So Tokai and such have created their market by assembling a good / great product for a better price...

    Why the weight differences ??

:( Boy do I agree with that. I grew up drinking the real cokes and signed off years ago. I aint putting that junk down my throat unless it's got a heavy shot of Venezuelan RUM that needs colored. So all I learned was that Tokai may be heaver or lighter than a Lester that is hollowed...

    Why the weight differences ??

Nah, I don't want a different guitar, I like mine quite well thanks. I was just curious what drove Gibson to weight relieve, chamber or what ever when most (?) other LP makers do not. My Tokai does not seem heavy, but I've no scale accurate enough to indicate ounces so I cannot say what it's...

    Why the weight differences ??

For a relative new guy I got to wondering the following question:: Why do the Tokai LS guitars not require weight relieving construction like the Gibson L.P. guitars ?? Is the African Mahogany lighter (which the LS100Q uses) Maybe thinner bodies ?? Is Gibson using a heavier wood then the did so...

Tokai LS-5 Limited Premium Quilt Top w/Tom Holmes!

I got one of these Pacifix Exclusive LS-5's last year and can vouch the Tom Holmes are great PU's. That new color is quite striking too. Upgrade the cap and pots to quality befitting the PUs and you'll be pleased. As well, upgrade the tuners to the better Gotohs and you'll be a happy camper.

    Replacing some hardware need help!

This Faber bridge assembly locks down the bridge frame thereby aiding the vibration transfer to the body. As well, it anchors the bridge saddles thru the mechanical assembly / frame. The anchored bridge will then create a solid end point for the vibrating string - though I cannot say what...

    Replacing some hardware need help!

I installed the tail piece a couple weeks ago on a LS100Q and the metric fit up perfectly.. Same for the locking bridge too.

    I'm a bit color blind....

It's an odd name but that top photo is a pretty good colour representation. It's intended to look something like a faded late 50's 'burst - orange to golden-brown on the outside and golden yellow on the inside. That is what I was looking for. The color names and how it's fades from one to the...

    I'm a bit color blind....

Violin Burst is a new one on me. :o What are the primary colors on the face of this guitar ? What did Tokai intend to do here ??? An orginal color or a LP copy color ? There seems to be quite a few different guitars that are offered in the VF.

    I'm a bit color blind....

So can someone help with the color Tokai calls Violin Finish (gloss). I read a note somewhere that it is compared to Gibbys Tea Burst and I think those are on some of the Historic re-issues.. This one is a LS 100Q So help a guy out who is color challenged to understand what this really is. Thanks
