Hi , can someone tell me what were the different RLS models from from around 85-90.

I just bought one from Ebay - description was this:

This is a near mint condition, amazing Burny Les Paul Electric all original guitar in black in amazing condition from the 80's All original gold hardware is in near mint condition w/ no tarnishing whatsoever. The finish is virtually immaculate as well w/ no chips, dents or scratches, nearly as clean as being brand new, I only keep from calling it actually mint because of its age, I consider mint something just out of the factory new. The condition is as close to mint as you can get. Comes with the legendary marked VH-1 pickups. Original stickers are still on the guitar the 'rock guaranteed' on the back of the headstock and 'the taste of old times, the revival Burny' on the pickguard. VH-1 stickers on the pickup rings. Gotoh Tuners, w/ SG bridge and tailpiece. Frets have zero wear, having 100% life left , dressed, new and shiny looking. Burny guitars very rarely have serial numbers but this one is from the mid to late 1980's as shown by the bell shaped truss rod cover w/ wings. Truss rod is in perfect working condition, neck looks straight action is good and of course can be adjusted to your preference. Again this guitar is in near mint condition, I'd be surprised if any in this good of condition still exist today. thanks for your time and interest in the auction any questions please email me.

This is an RLC70...

unless it's a copy (re-issue) of your model?

...nice buy I'm sure it will sound sweet

What? Why would you thin this is a Chinese Burny? This looks like a legit MIJ Burny RLC-70 from the late 80's or more likely the early 90's. It's a sweet guitar in great shape!

It would be kind of ironic if their were MIC copies of 80's Burny's !!

As far as I can tell this has spent it's life in a case! I was sceptical at first because of the condition - seller had decent feedback and the pics of the pickups and wiring look authentic when I compared with other Burny's.

The link here that was provided to the 92 Catalog

http://www.fernandes.co.jp/others/catalog/1992/069.html

says the body is Mahogany , doesn't say Maple cap so could be solid Mahogany.

Nice! Finally a catalog shot of my old RSG-75 SG Custom... always wondered what the model was on that one.

Somewhere in the deep recesses here on TF, someone had published a side-by-side english/japanese transalation of one of the earlier catalogs and it specifically calls out the ebony models being all maho, while the colored-finished models are maho with maple cap... I think you can be pretty certain that holds true for your later model as well.
