Very possible that some of these were caught up in the lawsuit issue of 1982 and the ripples that spread out from that for months.

Others may be further repercussions of shifting to, and eventually settling on, the script logo in 1983.

Made in January 1982 before the serial numbers changed February 1, 1982. Note that they used a 1981 plate...

And then the curiosity of the block logo...

The theory ATO proposed, and that I think is very likely, is that this guitar is one of the 205 seized in the UK in May 1982. And that it was eventually re-labeled as a block logo without the offending word "STRAT" in it and was released in the UK.

"An interesting thing about it... if you look closely at the logo, under the 'legal' Tokai logo is the outline of the old 'illegal' Tokai logo in the lacquer. As far as I can tell by researching old product catalogues, this was bass was released around '79-'82, so I'm wondering if the logos were switched in the factory at the time of the lawsuit dramas? This one is a head sctcher assuming all of these parts go together.

Serial number is very low and should be a spaghetti logo it seems?

Script logo sticker looks odd.

Model number sticker is 50, but 4 screw tuners (switched?)

Check this one out, same decal, 50 sticker, 4 screw tuners. The serial is very hard to make out but it looks L00### to me. Very odd.
