what are the differences between these guitars?
hows the quality on the MIK SG vs the MIJ one?

how do the MIK's compare to the gibson sg?

MIK vs MIJ.....

The Korean version is a mahogany body with a rock hard Canadian maple neck. The Japanese version is a higher grade mahogany body with a one peice mahogany neck. The quality is very good on both. The MIJ is more comparable to a Gib build and material wise than the MIK but the Korean is still a great guitar.

I just purchased a MIK SG from a Canadian dealer on eBay. It has the same wood in the body and neck (cherry finish). Advertised as Mohogany but could actually be Nato.

By the way...what's up with the "bone nut" it is supposed to have? That's the softest bone I've ever seen. More like a composite material, not real bone.

Be careful of the MIK guitars because there are a lot of varieties depending on if they are Canadian import or for other markets. Having said that, it is an amazing guitar for only $400 US. Very nice neck shape, resonant, and good quality hardware.
