Greco Lester on eBay; the Year Controversy...........

this Greco was on eBay some time ago, earlier this year, and I believe the consensus then was this this is a 1991 manufacture

the seller is stating that, "Kanda Shokai never issued serial numbers on 1991 Grecos".

I thought I recall seeing some 1991 Grecos with serial #s so, is the sellers statement correct?

I'm not interested in buying the guitar but I am interested in the issues raised by the seller.

So, what does the forum at large think, 1981 or 1991?
I believe it's a 1991...............................

EG59 85 or poss 100 impossible to tell without the original PU...

hi- guy's, I BOUGHT IT! I have had over 30 mij l.p's ( greco, tokai, burny's) just about all of them from 1978-1996 . I do believe this to be a 1981 not a 1991 ? why, because of the fret-edge binding ! ----- please correct me if i am wrong, but no way did greco do fret edge binding's in 1991. i am hoping , please let me know if i am right.

To be clear , IT HAD fret edge binding, Looks like a NEW fret job, and the binding at the high frets 17-22 ( did not get sanded down all the way), still a little of the fret-edge binding is showing !

Well, on the guitar ont the picture there is no signs of fret binding...

doesn't look like the cap greco was using in the 80's.

"in the photo there is no signs of fret binding" - you have to see it in person , looking very closely there is signs of F.E.B. Yes your right, the top does not look like a typical 1981.

Like eveyone else I though it was for sure a 1991, till i seen the binding.

So did greco L.P's. come with F.E.B in 1991 ? IF not its got to be a 81, ?

spec's - neck is a 59, 2 pc. back, its got a heel cap on the neck. the top is beautiful! (2 pc maple , with maple verneer ) , finish is nitro. It plays better than any other greco l.p. i have had, ( 1978, 1981 super power-chambered, 1980 super real eg700, 1981 super power solid top) .
