So interesting to see a natural body in alder rather than sen ash. Beautiful guitar.

1981 catalog:

ST85-NR ¥85,000
A natural finish that takes advantage of the material. The smooth fingering and sharp and mellow single coil sound unique to the Rose fingerboard are great for both studio and live performances. Delicate craftwork and a total sense of balance. A high-grade guitar for the orthodox rock'n'roller.

1980, s/n 0008054 (mentioned before in the thread). Got it recently, just a fantastic instrument. Pretty heavy, still setting it up. Only issue is bridge pup is rather thin, will connect the tone to the bridge and see what happens.. What about the height of these E pickups, where do you prefer them?

1980 ST85R N

SN 0011077

Tokai Springysound ST85N (1980) FOR SALE

Tokai ST-85N

For sale is my 1980 Tokai ST85N. However, the electrics and pickups were removed by a previous owner. The gentleman I purchased this from restored the instrument with top quality replacements. This is a Tokai clone of the 63/64 Strat. The guitar is 39 years old and has some minor dings and buckle rash. The Guitar clearly hasn’t had a hard life and the frets and board show little wear. It doesn't have a case but will be packed for safe arrival.
My reason for selling is to downsize my collection. Therefore, I am not interested in trades. I am based in Northern Ireland in the UK (near Belfast).

Specifications:
2 piece Ash (Sen) body, centre jointed.
Dawgtown Custom Shop Late 64 pickups,
CTS pots with PIO cap and Oak 5 way.
Original “Tokai” saddles and Tuner
Rosewood veneer board with soft V maple neck.
Mint Green Pickguard.

This is an odd serial for an ST80 in 1980. All the ST80s I've seen are in the 0006000+ range. All the ST50/60s are 001#### upwards. Looks like the neck screws have seen some action.

In order to survive the swaying sound waves, you need a wide range of reliable techniques and a rich sensibility.

★The lineup of R and ST80GSR, each with its own individuality, is a perfect way to master the guitar and explore new musical possibilities. want. Make sure you hear the sound of impact.

This one is odd. I would have guessed it was a 1981 guitar like mine (SN 1013537, 4=1 MR A X). The production stamps are from January. If it were January 1980 it would have a fretboard stamp. I think it’s December 1980/January 1981.

Tokai Springy Sound ST-80 Rosewood Fingerboard Metallic Red 3.45kg

Description

Tokai ST80MRR used

Tokai is highly rated among the many Japanese vintage brands.

We believe this is an ST-80 based on the rose fingerboard, non-catalog color E stamp pickup, and V-shaped neck with A stamp.

The serial number is 0~, so I think it was manufactured in 1980.

The body material is 2pc Senbody, and the neck is maple. It has a V-shape reminiscent of the 1954 Strat and a 1964 round loin fingerboard.

The head shape is a "Stratocaster" shape that cannot be used in modern times, and the logo design is a design unique to those days, which was created by thoroughly researching the old models.

The pickup is equipped with an E-stamped pickup made for higher-end models.
It has a clear and thick sound that is reminiscent of 1954.

We are also particular about operability, such as a 5-way selector that feels similar to a 3-way, and a tone control similar to that time.

It shows strong signs of use, with little remaining on both the truss and frets. A light buzz can be seen when the string height is set to about 2mm.

The electrical system works well, and there are no noticeable parts to be replaced so it is recommended not only for use in its current state, but also for main use after thorough adjustment!

Please take this opportunity to purchase.

Weight: 3.45kg
Soft case included.
Arm missing
Color red
Year of manufacture: 1980s
Tremolo synchro type
Fingerboard material rosewood
Neck material maple
