Just to alleviate any concerns you may have about Tokai's new parent company Grace. Grace is the largest "Kaitori" company in Japan (a company that buys used items from the general public). They employee over 200 people and are extremely well capitalised. Importantly, they are closely connected to key people in the guitar manufacturing and distribution business overseas who they'll be working with to breathe new life into the brand.

If tokaiaustralia or anyone else has access to the new ownership, maybe you can ask to keep a lookout for old log books that may contain information on the old body and neck codes, and perhaps dates for different batches? Would be great for collectors to have that information if it exists.

I can ask but i wouldn't hold your breath for this. It's my understanding that it was all for the factory only, not the public.

Thanks. It would create a lot of goodwill among collectors if they found it and just shared the information. Essentially what do the numbers mean? It’s been a long running mystery and it would be great if it was solved. Thanks!

I've talked to a contact in Japan who's personally acquainted with some of the people working for the instrument side of Grace's kaitori operation and according to him, they're indeed guitar enthusiasts .

Let's hope for the best, and that they do what lots of Japanese manufacturers ought to to: establish a heritage center or at least a company historian, It would be good for the current brand as well imo.

GRACE Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Nishi-ku, Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa, Representative Director: Yuta Sawamura, hereinafter "GRACE")

is pleased to announce that it has acquired shares in

Tokai Musical Instrument Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Representative Director: Shohei Adachi, hereinafter "Tokai Musical Instruments") as of November 12, 2021.

Background: Japanese musical instruments that are proud of the world are not used and buried. We see a lot of such musical instruments in the purchase business of used musical instruments. We purchase instruments that are not used and go old at a proper price, repair them carefully, and deliver made-in-Japan instruments that the world wants to the world. It is also the opposite. The instruments we have worked on deliver music by playing new music all over the world.

Grace's musical instrument business UNISOUND wants to convey the fun of musical instruments more through the sale and purchase of used musical instruments! Bringing music closer to you! We believe that.

We will continue to develop new market value in many countries by creating various ways to find new market value and export not only domestically but also overseas, mainly in Europe, the United States, and Southeast Asia.
