Hi everyone, and Happy New Year!

I recently bought a Momose MLS-1 STD/NJ at an auction in Japan. The guitar is absolutely amazing, and I’m thrilled with it! However, I’m struggling to find information about its production date or any additional details about this model.

The serial number is 9087.

I’ve already reached out to Deviser directly but, unfortunately, haven’t received a reply yet. If anyone here knows how to interpret Momose’s serial numbers or has any insights into the MLS-1 STD/NJ model and its history, I’d really appreciate your help.

Thanks so much in advance!

Congratulations on your Momose MLS!
I'm not surprised you are happy with it as these are hand made using top grade materials.

Unless one has a dated warranty card it is difficult to determine a manufacture date for these.
A 'dated' warranty card would typically have a hand written notation, some stamped, of the original date of sale and this would be one of the only ways to determine an approximate time frame of manufacture.

My 'guess' is your #9087 is likely circa 2018/2019 manufacture but again, that's a guess.

You could check the pots to see if they have a date code on them.
If they have date codes this could potentially be a ballpark clue.

I will reach out to Deviser and see if I can obtain any info from them for #9087.

Congrats again on your MLS!!

Thanks for the quick reply! Unfortunately, the guitar didn’t come with any paperwork aside from its original case. I’ll inspect the pots to see what’s under the hood. I really appreciate your effort—thank you!

No problem!

I know my 'guess' was 2018/2019 but I'm leaning more toward a circa 2018 manufacture time frame.

More to come .......

here is a Momose MST2-STD warranty card for serial #89?? which pre-dates your example by 186 digits at the most.

the hand written date is showing as 2018 - 12 - 5 aka December 5, 2018.

Your MLS is likely a 2018 manufacture.

Check your pots for codes and if coded triangulate from there with the info here.

Congrats on finding out the history of your Momose.

The folks at Deviser may not be real quick about replying to inquiries and they don't always have the answer(s) one may want but they do typically reply. Glad it worked out this time. (y)

This is really helpful information.

Gives me perspective about how long guitars sit before they sell and have warranty card dates.

Here are some serial numbers near yours that I have logged:

80xx - 2018 WC
8634 - 2019 ? Deviser web site
8635 - 2019 ? Seller comment
8727 - 2018 ? Seller comment
89xx - 2018 WC
9018 - 2019 WC
9062 -
9087 - 2018
