I'm not sure what to think about this. It has a scarf joint. It makes me remember the blog by Norihiro Yoshida who said the cutoff on models between the factories was higher than CE-400.

He said:

"Raw guitars produced at the headquarters factory in Terawaki were mainly mass-produced products. We produced CE150-CE300 mass-produced products and CE400-CE600 semi-manufactured products.

Luxury handicrafts with a CE rating of 800 or higher were made at the "Terashima Factory" on the south side of Hamamatsu Station."

Description of item​

・This is a rare Cat's Eye early '76 model , said to have particularly good construction and sound , CE -800 signed by master builder Mr. Yamauchi (serial No. 3XXX76) . The heathered Jacaranda grain on the back and side panels is a very attractive piece .

- Light fret rubbing, string height adjustment, and overall cleaning were performed at the pro shop. There are a few shallow scratches and small scratches on the paint surface on the body, but there are no particularly noticeable deep scratches . There are also shallow dents on the back of the neck and some fading on the paint surface.

・The top is made of spruce, the sides and back are made of Jacaranda , and the neck is made of mahogany, so there is almost no clouding of the paint film. The pegs are genuine and shiny GRO VER flat head screws (with USA stamp. This alone is worth tens of thousands of yen). The most important part is the ringing, which is rich in overtones and gives you a wonderful sound that is unique to old models.
