I have a 1980 greco EGF-850 super real, that I bought in need of being fully restored, I need new tuners for it, I'm not really sure of which ones will fit, and I'm looking for vintage style tuners... Any advices?

thanks

I'm not an expert but my EGF-850 appears to have Kluson style, single ring tuners. I'd expect the Gibson Historic or Kluson replacements would be a direct fit.

locating the correct Greco Deluxe tuners for the EGF models will be difficult at best

my old 1980 EGF850 beater came with a set of Grover Pat. Pend USA tuners; they fit perfectly through the tuner shaft holes, and the one screw (on the back of the head stock) on each tuner lines up perfectly with the bottom six existing screw holes, leaving only the upper six screw holes exposed.

Of course, locating some original Greco tuners would be the best solution but again, finding some would be a chore

good luck

No expert either, but I seem to remember the originals were screw fit bushes rather than the normal push-fit ones. If you just want some nice Kluson style tuners just take one of the old ones off and measure the diameter of the hole, it will probably be 8, 9 or 10mm. Most of the aftermarket Klusons are the same size, you just need the bushes to fit the holes on your EGF.

I've been buying a bit from these people recently they have everything you need!

Very helpful, and seem to have every variation of size and style in stock, once you have your measurements drop them an email. If you're not sure which ones will fit, get a few and return what you don't need.

thanks guys, yeah I'm just looking for new tuners that are good quality and will fit the holes, I'm not too concerned about the screw not being the same type, or some holes being exposed.

I'll check the link, the store appears to have quite the variety!

thanks

Gibson has a re-issue tuner (that bolts down from the top) that is a perfect fit; I see if I can dig out a photo...

:)
