Shame some genius carved a huge hole in it for that awesome trem unit.

Some young player with more hair than smarts wanting to do crazy dive bombs but the budget was only sufficient for some whammy monstrosity and not for an appropriate guitar. That was the 80s for ya (at least I hope that happened in the 80s and not last year or something). I remember doing that a couple of times back then when I worked in a shop, but never on a guitar with a really nice top.

Tragic. You wonder what the guy thought as he was removing the old bridge and looking at that top about to cut into it? I would hope that he paused and noticed the amzing wood grain before he butchered it.
