Hope you can help me out.

I have a Greco Les Paul copy with Grover-style tuners. It has Greco branding. The tuners are loose. Especially the G string. I can't feel the string tightening when I'm tuning my guitar. I want to replace it (that is if there isn't any remedy to it). Anyway, I am also thinking of going 18:1 gear ratio.

When replacing it, what would be the direct replacement? I don't really care about the brand. Does Greco still make replacement parts? Anywhere I can order?

I heard that Grovers are not direct replacements. I've been looking at Gotoh SG301 tuners. Do you think these would work?

Thanks in advance.

The Groover (Gotoh) style machines on Greco's are usually adjustable by means of friction. Just twist the shaft under the knob klockwise for more friction. Sometimes there is a little hole in the shaft where a small wrench fits, but such a wrench have I only seen on picture at a Japanese collectors.
On Ibanezes from the period the shaft was made to be turned with your fingers.

thanks. i've seen that hole in the tuner. i didn't think it was for anything.
