I found a nice looking black Tokai Love Rock Lp custom from Finland, it's from 1987. The price is 550 euros, the problem is that the seller is not sure if it's a Korean or Japanese made. It doesn't have any serial numbers or stamps or anything where it was made. So how can I tell where it was made?

Here it is.

I hope you could help me with this one.

Thank you very much!

Would help to have some better pics of the bridge and headstock, but it looks MIJ to me.

If it's really an 87 it will definately be MIJ as they weren't making MIK back then.

Thanks for your quick reply! :)

I can ask from him if he could send me some better pics. He's not 100% sure it is an '87 model but he says he bought it used in the early 90's.

By the way, when did they start making guitars in Korea?

I can't tell for sure wether that is a 2 or 3 screws trussrod cover (so I'm not sure wether it's japanese or korean), however I doubt it's an 87 because of the headstock inlay...

It's Korean. Three screw truss rod cover and those bridge posts with screw heads :(

Yeah, I was woried when I saw it had 3 screws on the truss rod cover. :( I guess I'm going to pass it, 500e sounds too much for a Korean Love Rock and I believe it doesn't even have mahogany body or neck. :( The Japanese Love Rock search continues.

But thanks anyway.

Especially when you can buy a new MIK LC53 for a lot less:
