Hello all,

Was wondering if someone can help me out with quick query - I'm considering getting an ES-60 (from Richtone, no less) for a quick new guitar fix, and would value some thoughts on whether they are much cop / equivalent to or better than, say, an Epiphone Casino/Dot etc? I would probably replace the pickups with the ones I took out of my MIJ LS-85. Any thoughts anyone?

I have a made in Korea version which is very playable and well made. I think the current ones are from China and so could be different in quality. I used to have an Epiphone Sheriton and the ES 60 I now have is way better than that.

Hi

Im in the same boat I can buy a SH dot for around half the price of the ES-60 so is the ES-60 worth the extra cost. I already own a Tokai LS70f and upgraded the pups and its now an awesome guitar Im guessing the ES-60 wont quite be up to the same standard. Sorry If I have hijacked your thread.

Has anybody else got any opinions - Epiphone Dot or ES-60? Any help much appreciated.

Have you picked them up yourself to play them and compare to see what you think? It really is up to you.

True, true - I was really wondering whether anyone had any comparisons/experience in terms of finish/build quality I suppose (I have no way of checkng this ou personally) - though obviously they are both going to be inferior to their 'bigger brothers'.

I have owned two epiphone sheratons both were nice guitars but the pickups are poor IMHO ended up selling em regret it now! I have now got some cash burning a hole in my pocket! So do I go for the ES-60 or the Burny Help me please!

I had a black Epi dot several years ago that was one of the best sounding 335's I've played - right out of the box - never changed a thing on it.

I might be too late and you've already gone and bought something, but I bought an ES60 today and I can say that the workmanship (made in China) looks to be fine... in fact it's better than a Gibson ES333 I sold a few weeks ago!

I think the made in China thing is a not a problem... if they can send men into space I guess they have the skills to make good instruments. Same goes for MIM Fenders, tho' I'm not sure if any Mexican's have made it into orbit yet... without the aid of Tequila that is

The Chinese (not unlike the Japanese) are technical masters at imitiation and from what I've seen, they're doing **** good work for the money.

Watch the off color remarks about Hispanics...... I work and play with them here in Texas.

Yup. This gentleman:

Mexicans make some excellent instruments too. :D

Hey! I didn't mean any offence to anyone... just little generic joke about the effects of alcohol.

Quite the opposite, I think the Mexican Fenders are as good as the US ones and can never understand when (some) guys from the US make out that they are in some ways inferior because of where they're made.

Adios chaps!

:D
