Hi guys, sorry for my first post being a question but after owning Tokais for a few years I only just discovered this place.
Anyway I have a 1979 Les Paul Reborn and wondered what it was worth? It has 50 stamped on the highest fret and is all original except for the tuning pegs that have been changed for modern ones that look exactly the same (I know this as I have 4 of the originals). It has some slight buckle wear on the back and a couple of small dings on the neck but other than that the condition is superb.
Any ideas on value as may have to sell one of my guitars and this is the one I play the least.

It's not worth much. Send it to me.....

Pictures will be a big help. The LS50 you have is on the lower end of the spec range for Reborns (ie LS50 - LS120). What's it worth? Depends on the condition, perhaps color, etc but it also depends upon the market and what it will bear as far as price. I'd say anywhere from $700 to $1000 as a guess.

my camera's bust so i can't take any pics now but you can see the colour in these (sorry about the poser rock shots by the way!)

it had dimarzio tonezone fitted in the bridge when these were taken although i do have the original pick up. condition is pretty immaculate, no marks on the front of the body at all, very light buckle marks on the back and two minor dings on the back of the neck. it's all been serviced and set up by a pro luthier too

Looks nice.... is the sticker/decal on the front still on it? Sometimes when removed, it will leave a ghost image of the shape.

You'll want to post some detailed picks of the front, back, headstock front and back, etc.

Are you looking to sell it to a private party or on ebay?

the sticker has been removed and no ghost mark at all. i will try and get some pics taken later on my phone and post them up.
would rather sell privately cos get sick of ebay's ever increasing fees, that's why I was asking what it's worth so I have an idea what price to advertise it at. I'm in the UK by the way, are most peopl on here from the US?

Nope, we're pretty multicultural!

If you're looking for pricing advice and want to sell on here, it helps immensely if you can add your location to your profile. :)

I reckon a good condition LP Reborn 50 will command something in the region of ?600-700 (maybe a bit more on eBay).

OK have added my location now. Once I've decided if I definately want to sell (don't know whether to sell this or my Tokai 335) then I will advertise it on here as I am sick of Ebays ever increasing fees.

Still think that price might be a little optimistic in today's market. Here's a nice LS60 that only went for $735 USD (451GPB) and it was listed a couple of times - finally going with a no reserve auction.

I'd stay away from eBay.....

The trouble is that you can't do 1:1 comparisons with UK prices; we pay a premium (VAT is 15%, only recently down from 17.5%) on everything. In the UK market I reckon you'd get the price I mentioned (obviously depending on condition - one man's ding is another man's hole!*).

You're talking about a country where a LP standard is ?1900 ($3098 USD)...

* Fnarr fnarr, steady on etc...

Right I managed to take some pics. As I asid before the bridge pickup is a Dimarzio tonezone but I have the original that works perfectly and could be refitted. The tuning pegs have been changed for ones that look identical to the originals but without the Tokai stamp on them. The front is perfect, the back has some light surface scratches as you can see and there are a couple of small dings on the neck that don't affect the playing at all. I also had it serviced and set up by a professional luthier in Nottingham. Not sure if the case is original as it looks too good to have lasted from 79 but it is really strong and much better than the similar Gibson one that I got with my SG.
Any better ideas on what it's worth now?
