1981 ST80R ?

Something seems amiss here. The seller is not showing the serial number on the neck plate, but what you can see of it is odd. Starts with "11". A 1981 guitar would start with "10". And it looks like that is not enough room for 7 digits?

Also, Final Pro.spec saddles borderline unlikely for '81 and the aftermarket decal may indicate it's a Goldie from later years.

I saw that too.

I can't remember if any of the late 1981 (82 model year) examples we found had Final Prospec saddles. Final Prospec was announced in the Spring 1982 catalog.

Maybe ATO knows, but I don't see any in the 1981 serial number thread we started.

And I could be seeing things. Maybe it is "10" and he just blacked out part of the "0", but if it is not a 1981, then it should have an L serial number.....

My guess is a 1981-82 ST-70YSR...or not.

i have a 1981 ST 70. It would have a slab board. This one doesn’t

It looks like 11 to me & I've never seen an 81 with prospec saddles. New decal. Need to see under the hood but something is obviously not right.

Bet someone swapped the neck plate when they did the decal and it's really an 83-85 script TST50 or something. Some people think the 1##### serials means 81 cos it starts with a 1.
