[SOLD] Burny RTV-70 (I think!) Les Paul Junior double cut

Very true. Though looking back now, I don't think there are any guitars I really regret selling... But guitars I regret not buying in the first place... I could spend all day listing those!!!

[SOLD] Burny RTV-70 (I think!) Les Paul Junior double cut

Alas, not mine anymore! Still got my Springys though. It was tough to find that DC JR - shame I didn't get on with the neck (super chunky).

[SOLD] Burny RTV-70 (I think!) Les Paul Junior double cut

I'm selling a 2003 MIJ Burny LP JR DC - same guitar as featured in this (ancient) thread: http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=21277 I've since tracked down a model number in the Fernandes catalogues - RTV-70. The serial number is Tokai-style and dates it to 2003, and the RTV-70 appears...

Can you help to identify/date a Burny LP JR DC?

Sounds awesome cranked. Loses quite a lot of dynamics when the guitar volume is rolled off though. Acoustically it is quite loud, but sounds full rather than shrill. Don't suppose you can point me towards any decent info on 2003 Tokai-made Burnys?

Can you help to identify/date a Burny LP JR DC?

I hope you good folks can help me identify and date this Burny LP jr. I have read loads of forums about dating Burnys and couldn't find an answer. The guy who sold it to me was sure it was Japanese and thought it was 80s. I think it looks a bit younger than that and I'm not 100% sure it's...

    Billm mods

There's loads you can do. I did all of the 'basic' mods BillM recommends, plus the twin stack mod and audio taper volume and reverb. The basic mods alone are supposed to do the trick - that's why they all come in one kit. So now I'm trying to decide whether to add a presence control (requires...

    Springy sound versus goldstar

Fender? Who are they? Not another American company knocking off Japanese strats I hope...

    Billm mods

Just in case anyone's interested, I did a few of the mods and the result is... great clean tones, loads of extra bass, but... there seems to be a lack of treble and the overdriven sound is now woolly and horrible. I've had months to get used to it but I can't. I'm afriad it was much better the...

    Springy sound versus goldstar

I've noticed the difference in body contours and thickness of paint too. I posted about it a really long time ago but nobody concurred. Maybe it is not a consistent difference that can be put down to a specific timeframe, but I'm glad at least someone else has noticed it. I used to have a...

Ebay - "Goldstar Strat, never used" - Really?

Shape of the truss rod plug looks wrong to me - it may not even be a plug: could be headstock-end access. Also the logo is very reflective. Looks fake to me. I also note with suspicion that the description is actually about Tokai strats in general, not this specific guitar. The only thing it...

Springy ST-60, some expert comments would be appreciated

Did the very early Springies with the narrow neckplates have a serial on the neckplate? Never seen one in the flesh myself... as this one is early enough to have the st-60 stamped in the butt of the neck rather than on the last fret, could it be a narrow neckplate model?

    Modded Boss DS-1

I'm selling my modded Boss DS-1. Great pedal but seldom used since I got into rangemaster clones, and now has to go to make way for a BYOC tremolo. Offers considered. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Boss-DS-1-Distortion-pedal-Tube-Driver-mod-/220621324665

    Billm mods

Anyone here tried any of the Billm mods on their Blues Junior? I'm tempted to fiddle, but slightly put off by the warnings about the PCB being delicate and having to use a decent soldering iron with a temperature control. I've modded and built pedals with my cheapo soldering iron and not...

    help tokai goldstar sound

At some point somebody has added an aftermarket locking nut to it. This was a popular but ugly mod in the late 80s/early 90s. Does it have a normal strat-style trem with 'Final prospec' stamped on the saddles? Sometimes trems were changed at the same time as locking nut was added.

Help identifying, dating and verifying Goldstar...

It also had truss rod adjustment at the headstock end and the shape of the heel is rather unfefined - doesn't look like Tokai workmanship to me. Even the shape of the headstock is not quite right I think...

what is the neck radius of goldstars?

Yes, 7.25 is right I think. I was wrong when I said 7.5.
  18. B

what is the neck radius of goldstars?

AFAIK, the radius is 7.5 and the nut is plastic. Knowing Tokai, this may not be consistent over the years.

Steel tremolo block for Springy with older zink trem-block

This has been discussed before, and I think the answer is no - especially if you've got the older style trem where the block and baseplate are cast as a single unit...

    Awful guitar names

Every time I see the advert for Gibson's "Dusk Tiger" ( ) on this forum I just can't believe they managed to come up with a name so awful it would be shunned even by supermarket's-own-brand deodorants. Are there any other unfortunately named guitar models out there?
