How many of you replaced Pickups ?

My guitar is a Greco EG59-100 not Tokai but I did indeed change the bridge pickup to a Bare Knuckle "Nailbomb" and the difference is astounding. Very satisfied.

    Pick-ups for metal

I have to second Chrisheyes recommendation of Bareknuckle pickups. I bought a Nailbomb and love it. The Warpig model is designed for "chuggy" metal sounds and sounds great as well. Chrisheyes already outlined the miracle man pickup. Great company, great service.

Order of Excellence for MIJ (Early 1980's to mid 90's)

Interesting stuff Villager. Would you rate the Greco Mint Collection (EG59-100 and up) the same as the high end Super Real EGF series?

So which amp is your favorite?

This may stir the pot a little tube heads. My favourite amp right now is the computer program Guitar Rig 2. It's absolutely amazing. It's very tube like to my untrained ears (I've been solid state my whole life). I gig with a Line 6 Flextone 1 (100 watts 2x10). I loved the emulations for...

can anyone tell me something about pr48 and pr50????

I'd like some info on this too as well as what difference there is between the PR40 and the PR48 and PR 50.

can anyone tell me something about this model greco egc68-50

What I meant Andy was that in 1982 there was no 1968 replica. I'm not sure if Greco changed the Mint Collection inventory by 87 or not but my guess would be it's not a Mint Collection but may still be a **** fine guitar.

Fernandes (Burny) RLG-90 Super Grade held up in customs...

That is a beauty of a guitar at a good price!. I love the finish. If I get another LP replica I'm seriously thinking of going with an Edwards or Burny.

can anyone tell me something about this model greco egc68-50

Andy I have a 1982 Mint Collection guitar. It's a EG59-100. In 1982 the only Mint Collection guitars were copies of 59, 58, or 57 Gold tops i believe. Your guitar is a custom and therefore looks a bit different than mine but the knobs and pickups both look different than my 59 replica. I...

What DON'T you like on a LP (or LR) style guitar.

For me it's strictly an appearance thing. Some people really like the look of aged gold hardware, not me.

What DON'T you like on a LP (or LR) style guitar.

I thought of another couple things I Do Not Like in a Les Paul Style guitar. 7. P-90 pickups. They sound really cool but I hate the look of Soapbars. I don't like mini humbuckers either. 8. Epiphone Headstocks. :) Actually we can probably include any non "lawsuit" style headstock to...

What DON'T you like on a LP (or LR) style guitar.

You've said this before and I find it interesting. I have a 1982 Greco EG59-100 and it's awesome although the neck is wider than I was used to. It plays and looks great, my only complaint is the bridge pickup is a little too trebly for my tastes. Having since played a '59 Gibson Historic with...
