Interesting guitars from a narrow window in time (1985).

It seems that Tokai had a source of burled mahogany for a time.

There were 3 models that featured these tops. The other two were:

No idea if these are wedded parts, but the serial number fits the range for Super Editions.

String retainers look aftermarket and unlike other SD parts.

Tokai VS-80 Japan 1986 Guitar


Tokai VS-80 model 1986 model Anyone who knows about Japanese made Tokai guitars will know just how great these guitars are! This model has a mahogany body with a Burl top and 22 fret maple neck. 2 coil split powerful humbucker pick ups provide the sound, the guitar originally had active pick ups but is converted to normal mode now but it comes with the circuit should anyone wish to reinstall it (an easy job).Original tremelo arm included.Original locking nut is included also easy to refit if desired.This guitar is in superb all round condition considering nearly 40 years old. This model doesn't come up for sale very often and is hard to find. Overall a fantastic vintage guitar and a credit to Japanese build quality.
