The SG is 1982. I am not sure I have seen one this early?

The FV is 1985/86/87 range. Six digit serial number starting with 2xxxxx.

Interesting to see that 1982 SG.

The pickups are probably unmarked early version MKII covered zebras?

Please post pics if you get it.

Saving pics.

thanks for the replies!
ill get picks of the SG wiring and pups!
i had pups out and there was No markings at all on the back.
I was expecting braided wiring but No thought that to be weird for a 82 model?

82 SG60 would be PAF57's and would of had a small black sticker on the back which after 40 yrs could of fallen off. Nickel hardware.

That’s not what I’ve found.

The ones with the PAF stickers show up in 1983.

If you found an 82 with one I’ll add it to the humbucker thread. That would be helpful.

I don't have a personal example to hand but from memory, which isn't always a good thing! Then having a look in Peter's book, the PAF 57's were fairly common on the following 82 on.20221230_174144_001.jpg

Notice there is no year associated with that in Peter's book. At least none shown in your photo.

SG60 does not show up in catalogs until 1984? Note that I don't have a 1983 catalog.

It's not in my 1982 catalog:

These unmarked pickups were used in most models in 1982. I presume the resistance varies in the different models. No idea how they could tell them apart in the factory...

It's not in my 1982 catalog:

One things we have learned over the years and mostly from your efforts of late and my own experiences of restoring a wide variety of things in my life. Catalogues are not the absolute.

but there it is in post #1

Peter covers SG's 82 < 86 in his book. the 60 model is a 61SG and came out in 82, the 50 came a year later and is 74 type SG

I’m not seeing what you are talking about in “post #1”.

And I don’t have Peter’s book. I’m going by what I can see and have access to. Maybe he will chime in?

If someone can show me a 1982 guitar with a Tokai 57 PAF labeled pickup that would be a first for me. I welcome the info.

I tend to insist on actual physical examples rather than catalogs or books.

So far I haven’t seen one.

So is it a 1982 with 57 PAFs? and stock wiring?

If you are asking me, I am saying it all looks legit, but those pickups were not the stickered Tokai 57 PAFs that show up a year later.

Maybe someone will show me proof that they are, but until then I am saying they are stock unmarked pickups.

And if I had to guess I would say they are likely made by Gotoh.

And yes, 1982 SG60 CH.
