I found a Tokai Explorer from 2006 that says made in Japan on it. Does anyone know the model of this guitar? Did they only have EX-50 available in 2005 with the agathis body? I would have thought MIJ Explorers would be mahogany. There is no info on these guitars, so no one seems to know.

Anyone come across a recent MIJ Tokai Explorer?

just the one version. that wood is used on low end stuff but if dried correctly, works well enough.

I was searching and found a EX-70 from 2007, listed as mahogany. They also had this pic amongst the images, so there may be hope it is mahogany explorer, and that the EX70 model did exist

8) the MIJ tokai explolers usually only use the mahogany but the MIC/MIK tokai explorers usually use the woods less than the mahogany. they are the musical woods so ok! i think i have seen a few kinds of those woods on the MIC/MIK tokais over the years.

8) this MIJ tokai explorer called EX-105 was on the tokai japanese catalog around 2010.

Thank you, I'll be happy if it sounds that good!
I was also looking at a Fernandes Explorer from the 90's but I understand Tokai built some of the Burny/ Fernandes Explorers
