I always thought the pickups in my 1984 Tokai had been swapped out but they look the same as yours, guitar was for sale for a long time and kept lowering price thought they put cheaper PUP in since the readings on inside of PG don't match current pup's

I have seen these unmarked gray backed pickups in the late 80s on Custom Edition guitars.

Still not sure what they are or where they fit.

And some pickups we think of as Silver Star pickups were put in other guitars as well as it turns out.

Like H pickups in the 38 Special.

Not sure what to make of this one.

The 7 digit serial number is a 1981 serial number based on what I have seen.

The pot date looks like 1990.

Everything about the electronics and the neck say 1990 to me.

If the serial number had been a 6 digit starting with 01xxxx or a 5 digit starting with 1xxxx that would make more sense.

It will be Tokai's unknown guitar.

There is a 60 sticker on the back of the neck. It 's probably a guitar that was left unattended for about 20 years

The pickguard is also distorted due to aging.

It has L.White pickups. This is a popular hand-wound pickup in recent years.

This is an excerpt: "Tokai original pickups manufactured in the 80s and 90s were thoroughly researched and analyzed, and developed to be optimized for tokai guitars. OFC (oxygen-free copper) is used in the coil wire. Luxurious pickups that are hand-wound by veteran craftsmen one by one in Tokai to maintain quality.The cost is too high to manufacture at present.The sound is a warm clean tone that is suitable for tube amplifiers, and the volume is also increased . When turned up, it produces a moderately withered crunch sound, and even now it is said that there are sounds that can only be produced with this pickup. L-WHITE is named after LAWRENCE WHITE, who was the president of the tokai agency in the United States at the time.

The previous owner said that he always used this guitar for recording , but the pickup may be good.

The PU selector is alive only after confirming that the sound comes out by inserting the shield and hitting the screwdriver against the PU pole piece . I didn't turn the pot, so please replace and refresh it, including the unknown basic pots such as gari. There is no bridge piece, so please attach another bridge.

Only the main body will be shipped with an air cap wrapped around the main body and placed in a packing box.
