Note the appearance of the ST30 in 1990. It is similar to the ST40, but was made in different colors (black & snow white only), and had lower spec pickups than the ST40.

ST30 had TOS-1 pickups which have light gage lead wires that tend to be red, white & blue.

This post from 2006 suggests that the ST30 was available in YS.

That kind of fits because I think I may have seen an ST30 in natural as well.

I am looking at the pickups in tandem with the trap tuners and cast bridge saddles.

The ST40 had ceramic pickups. The ST50 had MKII pickups.

Hi all,

A friend of mine visited a shop in my hometown (i ll go there in a month) and he saw 3 Tokai strats from the late 80s early 90s , NOS condition, that just werent sold ever.

The shop owner told him that they are ST30, ST40, ST50 (all in sburst). I am wondering if you know any specs on them. They are all MIJ and have a sticker on the back of the neck saying Made in Japan.
