I will try to post some pics. I took out the pups quickly. They are both labeled Double Trick, although they look different from outside. The zebra one has three small holes in the plastic cover (two and one), the black one only has two (one and one).
I guess Maxon was trying to imitate Gibson in just using what is lying around in the shop?
So there you have it: A 1986 '57 Goldtop with inked serial, Double Trick pups, looks like factory wirimg. The guitar that never was and sounds like the devil made it.

So who do you think made this guitar? Kanda Shokai?

Flickr not working as well.
I can't remember my photobucket login.
Sorry folks.

You just don't use the right url.

Beautiful Greco.

becoming my #1 recently. I just don't really know why, playing it just feels to good to put her down.

hi
the one with 3 holes in the top of the bobbins are a fujigen made pickup
( a mint serie pickup) not a maxon made pickup (super real pickup )
the other one is a real double tricks pickup maxon made

i have seen dry Z with 3 holes in the bobbin ,, as allways in 1982/83 there are transition model ,,,, but as long as they sound great ,,, who cares :D

i have a set in a egf 1000 and i love them ,,, love them ,,, they are great
all the best

Hi, nice guitar !!! i have a mint collection '84 custom that wasn't in the catalog either. It is a really nice guitar, every time i pick it up i'm amazed again. I'm not sure if double tricks are Maxon made though, i've always heard that Maxon made pickups ended with the super reals and the mint collection pups were made in house. Mine is a funky blue burst that originally came with dry '82's as pickups but i couldn't afford the guitar with them, so i bought mine pupless. I've since aquired a matched set of double tricks for it though for a good price when i want to make it more "original". These mint collection greco's are great guitars from what i can tell with mine.
Enjoy.
