Quoting from the Gibson description:

Truss Rod
Gibson?s traditional truss rod, found in most all of our guitars, is highly responsive to the individual adjustments you?ll want to make to personalize and optimize string action and sustain. The truss rod cover on this guitar is chrome.

I've got some doubts about just how "traditional" the truss rod is, given what Gibson is doing with their historic reproductions. Does anyone know of any posted pics of the truss rod section with the fretboard removed? (on this specific model..)

Well it was a step up from this one.

Isn't that "The Log"? Not a Gibson at all, although it was a Les Paul creation. As I recall, Gibson wasn't all that interested until they saw Fender tearing up the market.

I think it had an Epiphone neck originally. And you're right about Gibson's initial apathy.

I've always thought it is strange that "The Log" is seen as one of the prototype solid bodies - surely it's closer to a prototype 335 than anything else?

Complete with the original design of bridge that didn't really work.

Not really, the original design did work, the design Les wanted with the strings wound over the top of the string retainer, HOWEVER back in the days the guys at Gibson decided to go otherwise and departed from this design and had the strings run from under the stringretainer.

So finally the 52 GT as Lester had in mind :)

Now lets wait for a Tokai copy of this beauty :)
