Great resource, hoping someone can help.

Not a player, but i have what i believe to be an original Tokai Golden Era Reissue Les Paul that belongs to a professional musician friend who, for health reasons, can no longer play and needs the funds, so i am helping them part with it (and other gear). They are in a care home and communications are limited, so i have had to do my best to figure things out on my own.

The instrument is not in my possession at the moment, but i did take a few quick pics for reference (attached). At first glance i assumed the pups were replacements but in my research i have seen other similar Tokais with same/similar listed as 'all original'. The owner was somewhat of a techy so i dug around in some his equipment and found what i thought might be the originals. Can someone help me verify if this is the case and anything else about the guitar would be greatly appreciated. i also understand the pricing can be nebulous, but again, appreciate any insights in that regard.

Note: the unfortunate blemish is in the finish only and apparently caused by a splash of acetone (ouch!)

Cheers and thanks in advance.

These are very uncommon guitars.

The one you posted was made in 1980 and is an LS80.

As far as price, the tombstone headstock affects that. Most people want the open book, but it is unusual so who knows?

And yes, the S stamped goto PAFs are the original pickups.

OK. So that model has an unusual headstock intended to not upset Gibson. Makes sense.

I think that was technically called an NLS80. N for North American version.

Hi Guys,
Going by the Serial Number this guitar was made during the 'Reborn OLD' phase of development, even down to the Double-Ring Tulip tuners and Goto S-PAF pickups. This is a Gibson-killer to be sure.
Congrats on a fine guitar, that one is a keeper.
