Hi everybody, I used to hang around here a few years ago, but then various events in my life made me leave the rabbit hole for a while... I did login with my old account (johnnyl), but I found out it was locked and, since I don't have and can't register my old email address anymore, it's gone for good...

Anyway, today I would like to show you my latest purchase, what Ishibashi describes as an '80s Burny RLG 50.

They say it's hard to identify any further, because the electronics (pickups, caps, etc.) have all been replaced... All I got by searching the web is that it should be a late '80s / early '90s model, because of the "low" Super Grade script... But I'm not entirely sure about that as well.

So my intent here is first to show you my newly acquired guitar - it's a pretty good one, after a couple of months of road testing it I just decided it's a keeper!

... Then, if anyone can give me some more infos about it by looking at the pictures I'd be very grateful. 😁

Thank you all, and good to be back! ;)

Based on the control cavity routing probably from 1987 - 1993 when Dyna Gakki was making RLG 50 & 60 plain tops. You should be able to get the year from the code on the pots but it's not visible in the image that you've provided and might be covered up by the messy soldering job.

Thank you SO much for your answer! :)

Sadly the pots don't have any codes, just the values. Ishibashi stated they're not original, and they say the pickups aren't as well...
Any idea about what pickups they are? No logos or writings on them...

Edit: did some research, they actually do look like the original VH-3/VH-4...
