Tokai began to built other series of banjo under “Gold Star” brand in 1973 or 1974. Tokai had several registered brand names in Japan for their musical instruments and “Gold Star” was from one pronounced “Kin Sei”, directly translated into English as “Gold Star” but its real meaning is “Venus”.

And he says that "Gakki means musical instruments and literally means “fun instruments” in Japanese".
