Have you heard David Lee Roth's isolated vocal track from Running With The Devil? He's horrible
 
Yes he is and his voice isn't that great either.
I'm not a big DLR big hair (when he had hair) fan.
Some fans like all that Las Vegas over the top show routine.

Forget all that EVH tapping stuff and listen to his timing which the isolated clip is great for. Even if someone doesn't like EVH that much they would have to admit that Ed's sense of rhythm (rhythm and lead) is unique to him.

Running a Plexi at 10 just sounds great and he's using a Celestion/JBL speaker combo which sounds brighter than the usual Celestion cabinet.

I like Van Hagar better - but then again, I liked Sammy before with Montrose and solo.

Absolutely. He was light years ahead of Satriani and Vai - who to me are more about technique. EVH is more about playing.
