Engraved 2001 Serial but no "Made in Japan" legit?

Hi I am looking at a 2001 Tokai LS-60 (or is it?)
it has a 7 digit engraved serial, starting with 01 but no "Made in Japan" printed anywhere.
In the neck pickup cavity, there is a small rectangular area with no paint on it. Pencil-written is 3-17 and below LS-60-GT.
It is a greenish gold top finish.
I know you guys want pics and I will try to upload them.
But before I do that? Can this be legit?

Yes, LS-60 was the lowest MIJ model in 2001. Maple top, maho back,MK2 pups.

The made in Japan stamp wasn't on 2001 LS models. It came out later.
