The Definitive Guide to Greco, Burny, Orville, etc.

On my wanderings I came across this site, I'll post the link + the info in case the site shuts down for some reason. http://www.orangeguitar.com/index.htm BURNY Background of Burny Let us not get confused. Burny and Fernandes belong to the same entity. It started with Fernandes in the 70's...

LS70 Alternatives? [Greco, Burny, Orville etc]

I'm looking at getting the current Tokai LS70 from Ishibashi for 52,500 Yen (student discount). It's not in stock at the moment, so in the meanwhile, are there any LP style guitars which fall in and around this price made by other MIJ companies? Greco, Burny, Orville, Edwards etc. Just...

New guy has WAY too many questions.

In reference to PRS vs Tokai, I saved this from a post a good while ago. "I took one of our TOKAI NLP-40's to one of top selling PRS stores in the USA , so the owner & I could compare the two models. I'm not that familiar with PRS except for the fact that they are beautiful, expensive & well...

PRS SE and MIK Tokai NLP-40

I'd have liked to get one for cheap off ebay like the one you posted, but most seem to only ship to the US, and seeing as someone tried to charge us 90 dollars to ship a freakin' spice rack, I could see alot of ebayers having steep prices to get it here. Plus insured shipping through a shop...

PRS SE and MIK Tokai NLP-40

Hey Hans-Jurgen, I've looked at those Tokai PRS copies, and they certainly do seem to be MIk and cheaper, but I think they are definitly a lower model unfortunatly. I think they use alder bodys, have a very dillion like headstock and don't have a few details like the recessed controls. I've...

PRS SE and MIK Tokai NLP-40

They are P90 pickups, I never actually played them myself, but I hear they are like a cross between a single coil and a humbucker - a fat singlecoil almost. They are meant to be very nice for cleans, and for some distortion but I dunno how much they could handle! Well, for around 200 euro...

PRS SE and MIK Tokai NLP-40

Hey ScottA your friend must owe you one now eh? haha. I think the SE's are flat, at least from what I have seen. On the Tokai, I'm positive there is a maple cap which is apparently flamed, or quilted, does that garauntee it isn't a photo or might they just stick a photo on top of the cap? $395...

    Tokai Buying Advice

Yeah, I must say I played an (I assume, for like 1100?) Japanese love rock in music maker, and it really was just effortless to play, which I think is one of the most important things to look for, for me. I didn't hear it through an amp, but pickups etc can always be tinkered with :)

PRS SE and MIK Tokai NLP-40

You're right! It used to be at least, and that's why they have come out with the soapbar II in the shape of the mc carty models, but it has driven the price of the guitars up 100 or so..

    Tokai Buying Advice

Hey, there are some fellow Irish men here :) I'm in Dublin too. Musician Inc and Music Maker both do Tokai's, although I'd prefer to go to Musician Inc :p, they are very expensive in both shops though! I might get a MIK Tokai PRS copy shipped over from Canada, because JSD Guitar Shack supports...

PRS SE and MIK Tokai NLP-40

Does anyone have any idea on how the build quality of the PRS SE series and the Tokai NLP-40 compare? They are both PRS McCarty style guitars I think, and both made in Korea, but the SE works out as a hundred or so more expensive over here, while the Tokai boasts of a few extra features like the...

    Tokai Made PRS Copies?

I emailed Bob off some Official Tokai site I believe, all he said was.. "The Korean models are on the web ?399 the Japanes e PR85/90 will be on next Month ?899 and ?999 Regards Bob" I'm not really sure what he means, except maybe the guitars aren't in full availability right now? Seems...

    Tokai Made PRS Copies?

Any of the Korean ones I have seen had alder bodys and stuff, but anyway I guess it means they are around somewhere, even with recessed controls hehe. I'll keep looking
