    1984 Goldstar?

That neck looks exactly the same as mine. Do you think that radius is 7 1/2" or about 9"? Love the feel of that varnished finish - quite rare on modern guitars. Nd the small frets are so nice to play. Terrrific sustain.

    1984 Goldstar?

Thanks Ned. Just trying to be careful about what I actually have experience of, and/or know. I have no experience of more recent Tokais - the ones I have played were 80's models. As far as you comparison comments go - since I don't live on the street with a blanket and a lurcher dog, I...

    1984 Goldstar?

My Tokai dillema - sell or not sell - reminded me how hard itis to find guitars that are just right for you and your best playing. I've just seen to many of my students fall in love with the idea of owning a Fender Stratocaster or Gibson Les Paul a long time beforethey have even played one - or...

    1984 Goldstar?

If you have seen my other posts about sellingthis guitar, well I changed my mind after taking the photos, seeing they looked so good, and an in the eBay environment having daft quastions asked and the spectre of being offered stupid low bids. It's just too good to sell. Plays better than any...

    Vintage frets and 7.5 radius

Trouble with the small frets is there isn't a lot of actual metal inthem so if they have been played by someone who is pretty rough on bending and generally heavy finger pressure they will get worn down. You might get two or three fret dressings out of them but eventually you'll need new frets...

    Is this a tokai body?

Looks all wrong. I have a Tokai and it doesn't look like this body. The finishing is all wrong - the paint looks way too thick. The strap button is wrong and the upper horn is slightly different in shape. Anyone want to guess where the PU assembley comes from?

    Vintage frets and 7.5 radius

Sounds to me like you have a technique issue of some sort. Although a lot of guys will talk about strings choking off as they get pushed across the neck, that's only really going to happen if you go beyond a one tone bend - something like a push on a string that moves it about 3/4 inch...

Is this a 1984 Goldstar Sound?

Well I own a right handed sunburst one pretty much exactly the same - although my machine heads just have grooves, no letters. My serial number is 015379 and I have been told that is 1985/86, so your 223136 must be a couple of years after that? The insides of mine were photographed before I...

    Tokai 1982-4 Goldstar

I have found that trying to sell my Tokai ST has been somewhat frustrating and norrowing in on what the value is in the market. For a start, getting the date right isn't easy. Thanks to Bluejeanot for suggesting its probably 1986 - that could well be right as defining dates seems tricky. But...

    Tokai 1982-4 Goldstar

As you can see from the earlier post I have had this on eBay for the lest week and whilst plenty seem to be finding it, the only guy to respond so far questioned its date and wanted a 'Lawsuit' guitar - which I would have thought (apart from the 84 logo rather than 83 - woithout the T in Tokai...

    Tokai 1982-4 Goldstar

I have been a full time pro guitar teacher since 2002 and picked up this Goldstar when I was in the market for a Fender USA Strat. Just happened to be there on the shelf of a store in Trowbridge and when I played it is just came alive - one of those guitars that you know is going to be great...

    Pickup Change

Everyone likes to get in on the act when you post some pictures and ask, "What's this all about?" Well hare are the guts of my Goldstar Sound. No identifying labels or manufacturing marks on the cavity. No letters on the PUs. I'd like to know what they are so I'd know if changing them would...

    watkins copicat

Yes I had one of these in 1964. The blue one comes from pre 64/63 and the black and white one like the one I had is post 64 I think. Nice bit of retro kit. I had this from about 18 months back before I started playing R&B in London and used it for Ventures and Duane Eddy stuff.

    Home made effects

I've got one of those and they're pretty rare now - they've apparently become collectable at about $130.

    Which stomp box for delay?

There's a whole load of Chinese versions and builds now coming onto the market. I've recently sold 7 Degitech RP50s to students. These are available at Boxymusic.com and thomann.de at about ?38 a go and have 40 patches and 40 programmable patches with 8 digital effects. A power supply is...
