I've been swopping email with a very informed and helpful ex-Harliquin user. In the end he bailed out for an Ashdown 40 watt Peacemaker, for several reasons:
Harliquin's lack of headroom and disappointing clean sound. Amp lends itself much more to dirt and overdrive. The Peacemaker has great clean tone, bags of headroom but still dirties up very well.
Then there are a few conveniences like spring reverb, effects loop and multi channel. And it's much lighter too for us baby boomers with a dicky back, which admittedly is something I really should think about. In theory it sounds like a bargain.
Have a look at the Peacemaker reviews on Harmony Central - the guy's main review is posted there. Very detailed. Name of Davor Pavuna from Switzerland. He'll also answer any emails.
40 watt (1x12) or 60 watt (2x12) Peacemakers come in at half price or less than a Hurricane which is the next option up from Cornford with more flexibility.
Must admit I'm gonna try 'em all. I see the odd Hurricane is coming up for sale 2nd hand now so it's not quite so daunting. Even so I've a sneaky feeling the Ashdown is gonna be a surprise package.
