I dont think so, 90's (as in 90000yen) did not have this. On villagers site there's a randyrhoads custom without binding and an EG59-100 without. My SA-90 (335 model) does not have it either.

mint collection standards EG59-120 and above have fret binding...these are pretty rare, also some very early mint collection lower plaintop standards used left over necks from 81 period which had fret binding, again very rare..

mint collection customs, the RR98K and JS98K were 2 of the highest models and neither have fret binding, the other was the EGC68-100 ..as this is not a 120 or above, I assume it wouldnt have fret binding either...there were no super high models in the customs, as the only difference in the standard series of 120 and above is fret binding ..on the 120, then solid flametops, of increasing intensity on the 160 and 180 models...

heres a 1983 EG59-120 with fret binding...

I have a black '82 EGC68-80. It has fret edge binding but the truss rod cover states "Super Real Custom" Must be a rarity though or a hybrid if the EGC68-100 didn't have fret edge binding. I was wondering if it had a nitro finish.

I *very* occasionally see the early Mint Collections from say 1982 with the leftover Super Real necks. I recently picked up an EG57-50 with the chunky Super Real style neck WITH fret edge binding. It is very nice, although the frets are much smaller than my '84 Mint Collections that have nice jumbo frets. I like them all really, and fret edge binding is not a deal breaker for me either way.

Guys, can I dive in here?
Can you tell me what model this is? I know nothing about it, except it's a fantastic guitar!
Thanks in advance for any insights ya'll can give...

I haven't had it apart or anything, so...I suppose that would help, huh?

That's the correct procedure (using a lacquer thinner/solvent to check for finish verification) but it actually should be done in a hidden area, such as under a pup or in a control route
