About 2 years ago I bought a strat copy at SongBird Music in Toronto - they specialize in used guitars.

They had the guitar labelled as a made in Japan Tokai. At the time they had three of them. I picked up a sunburst model.

Since then I've been looking at it and the only thing on this guitar that says Tokai is the decal...Tokai Goldstar Sound. Oldie but Goodie. The back plate is plain ...no Serial Number ...nothing. There are no other markings on the guitar at all. The tuners are plain ..nothing else says Tokai on it.

How do I know it's a real Tokai....and that it's a Japanese Tokai?

Could it be a rebadged no-name?

hi
i had one like that about a year ago. one way of recognising a japanese one is that it has only one string guide as opposed to 2 on the korean one
another is that the truss rod plug at the headstock, hope that helps
