Tokai super edition

Anyone here can tell me more about this model? The ones i can find who look like this one have a pickguard and five way switch and input on the side of the guitar. See pictures...

Looks like st50 circa 84.

No pickguard std.

I think the prefix on these is SD. And it’s a more expensive model with that matching headstock I think.

More Tokai confusion…. I couldn’t find it in a catalog.

Faber folks are experts on Tokais. They probably know something I don’t.

Maybe more info will pop up now that you have these leads.

As I understand it, Super Edition, means it is expanded upon from the the Standard series I.e. not following the Fender configuration. So we have the base model plus changes to pickup configurations, tremolo variables and neck tree or clamp additions/changes. There are many variants of small production runs or country specific editions that do not appear in catalogues.

The nearest catalogue version to the OP's is in the 86 catalogue but they have pickguards. Not impossible to request no guard to cut costs/price for an order!

Hmmm.. the st50 in the YouTube vid is indeed similar. Also the sd70 on reverb. Just as mentioned above its not anywhere in a catalog. Cant seem the find any info on these models. Its a cool guitar for sure and can pick it up for 250..

Curiously they are calling this guitar an ST50 MRR too. Except adding that it’s the custom edition.

It would have to routed different for pickups anyway, irrespective of the pickguard. Same blank body though.

These seem to be a non catalog model. Probably called something like SD70 or TSD70 AMRR (all metallic red with rosewood fret board).

They came with the "Flying Dragon" pickups which are pretty hot. Around 18k ohms.
