Tokai Pickup Help

I have a Tokai EX-85 Explorer or LTD Edition Explorer as Coda Music puts it.

Anyways what pickups are in it? And what is the resistance of them?

Hi Joe,

A wild guess would be Gotoh PAF MkIII's, which are wax potted. The only way to be sure is to take 'em out and have a look on the baseplate. Saying that, they'll probably only say "Gotoh".

I think they are pretty low output, despite being in an Explorer, which means i'm going to need to change them sometime because i play a lot of screaming metal and they are not doing much at the moment.

Time to start saving for Bare Knuckle Miracle Man or Nailbomb for the bridge and a Mule for the Neck ;-)

Don't forget, Tim prefer's Mules for all his stage guitars!

The stock Gotoh PAF's will be somewhere around the 7k mark, obviously, you're after a punchier tone, so I'd say Nailbomb's would hit the spot.
