Hi guys newbie here
got a 2001 Loverock which is great,think its LS70
only drawback is pickups are feeding back

they are marker ls-f f and ls-f r on back

Was thinking of taking covers off which may stop feedback

Anyone tried this?
What do they look like underneath? Zebra? Black?

cheers

Welcome to the forum.

Mine look like this.

But it?s a 2010 model, and the pickups are marked LP-F-F/R.
Tokai used different pickups over the years. I think the only way to know which color, is to pull of the covers and see what?s underneath.

Wax potting pickups is the most widely used method of stopping feedback.
Google the term to find out how, or install already potted pickups if you couldn't be bothered to melt wax ...
or stand beside your amp instead of in front of it.

hi guys thanks for reply

yeah i know about wax potting
but sometimes if you put a cover on an already wax potted p.u. it will feedback
sometimes removing the covers can stop the feedback
was curios as to how the coils looked underneath ,thats all

felix has done this already ,any improvement?

I removed the covers because I didn?t like the look.
I almost never play this guitar, the few times I played that guitar with the covers on I didn?t noticed any feedback. So I can?t really tell a difference between before and after removing the covers.

It might become necessary to re-wax pickups after years of exposure to the elements.
I just recently had to wax the brass base back on my Texas Special Tele pups.
But by waxing a pickup yourself you might harm or destroy it. Also excess wax is an issue.
If a pickup is microphonic, you might as well replace it. So many interesting pickups are out there, endless possibilities of sound.
