I think I found the missing link in the LS Dynamic puzzle.

So looks like there were 4 different pickups in LS50s called LS Dynamic within a year’s time. We can call them 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2.

They first appeared in LS50s in 1981.

"LS Dynamic I" had hexagonal pole pieces,

The first version (1.1) had a "T" stamp on the base plate and "Paent Applied For..." in black ink. 1.1

"LS DYNAMIC I Version 1" with hex poles.

Sometime before the end of 1981 there was a completely different pickup in LS50s called “LS Dynamic II” in the catalog description of the LS50BB.

The first version (2.1) had "GOTOH" stamped into the metal base plate. 2.1.

Distinguish ES 100 R/J pickups

Here are the pickups from my '81 ES100J.

They measure 8.21 and 8.50K... but they don't exactly sound and feel that powerful. I guess the magnets are not that strong...

My 81 ES100J....Resistance 8.1k and 8.3k but readings were taken from output jack through cable.

1979/80 DiMarzio catalog says 7.65k ohm.

No difference between bridge and neck apparently.

Pulled these dirty puppies out of my 1978 LS 50GT. Don’t appear to have any distinctive stampings to help date, but I believe these to be original to the guitar. Look most like “hot” pickups.

This is a complete guess but the Dimarzio Super Distortion had hexagonal screw pole pieces and came out in 77/8 I think and as Dimarzio were supplying Tokai with pickups back then they may have requested that Goto/Tokai used regular polepieces to not infer they were Dimarzios. Larry is funny like that!

TOKAI トーカイ ハムバッカー L.WHITE SDH DRIVE... - ヤフオク!

Specifications: Humbucker mounted on the rear of the 1986 TOKAI JSD-603.

L.WHITE SDH DRIVE humbucker that was installed on Tokai guitars from the mid 80's to the 90's.

L-WHITE is the name of Mr. Lawrence White (an American agency president at the time).

It is a costly PU with some hand-wound ones.

Features include a one-side adjustable pole piece, ceramic magnet, and wire mesh.

In addition, good construction and materials are used, and it is a very costly PU.

The resistance value is 18.73Ω.

The length of the lead wire is about 17 cm.

Condition: There are small scratches and rubbing due to use, but the pole piece is clean without dullness.

Accessories: PU mounting screws, springs.

Shipping: 520 yen for letter pack plus.

"Flying Dragon" pickups

Tokai トーカイ P1-11BZハムバッカー カバー付き... - ヤフオク!

Specifications: This is a humbucker that was mounted on the rear of the 1983 Tokai FSD-65. It was a TOKAI original humbucker, which was a limited model at the time and was installed in the upper class with a list price of 65,000 yen, with the part number P1-11BZ. According to the catalog at the time, thorough research on old guitar pickups gave birth to humbucking pickups full of originality. Please realize splendid and exciting sound... apparently ... It has a cover, but it can be removed. It's a ceramic humbucker. It looks like a normal PAF humbucker, but it actually has a resistance of 18.21kΩ. Also, the build is very good, and it is different from the mass-market model. String pitch is about 10mm. Originally it was a model with a plastic cover. The length of the lead wire is about 20 cm. Condition: There is no particular feeling of use and it is beautiful.

Catalog lists the pickups as LSC-F

I would have guessed MK4, but this is interesting, and still a bit mysterious.

This guitar was custom ordered so I am not sure of the exact specifications but it plays and sounds amazing! Equipped with Tokai’s highly regarded MH-3 pickups and a gorgeous hand-selected hard maple solid top! Fretboard is ebony which is unusual on these guitars and it has a poly finish. Check out the unique grain pattern in the top! Guitar is in mint condition with no notable issues except two cracked knobs (still work perfectly) and a crack in the neck pickup bezel which has been repaired. Comes in original factory case. Rare find!
