I recently required a Bass Guitar, although the decal headstock has worn off, when held at an angle towards the light you can see the name "Tokai" & underneath in small letters "Hard Puncher"
Been told this bass guitar is a high-end VSB80 from 1981
Price in 1981 JYen 80.000 & this was confirmed in another thread when a picture of it in a catolog.

The serial number on the back plate is: 1016564. I have had new Pots , new jack socket & new knobs fitted (went for the gold LP style than the orginal Blak ones)

Im more of a six string player myself & am looking at possibly selling this on - I would only sell it to either a dealer that specialises in Tokai or someone i feel would give this baby a good home.

Not 100% comitted to selling would like to know if there are any Dealers that specialise in Tokai's & how much it may be worth.

Your comments would be much appericated Thanks.

no real dents or scratches more photes can me sent if you wnat.

once again thanks

I think the simple reason you get no replies is that nobody on the forum knows. It's a rare example of a relatively rare design and there is simply nothing to compare it to price wise.
What we all know are the prices for the vintage models but they won't really help.
Personally I'd put it up on ebay at ?300 to see what happens but I'd be prepared for it not to sell as most people want the vintage correct p or j basses.

An example of the bass next to it in the catalogue only reached ?173 and was withdrawn for not meeting the reserve, only a couple of weeks ago. I think, if you sell it now, you won;t get anything like it's, probable true value.

With the current financial climate, as well as everyone's preference for vitage copies, I would say keeping it is a better option than selling it. It's probably a great bass that won't fetch it's true value.
