Wondering about these PRS copies...

They are "Make In Korea" unauthorized Fakai guitars apparently made in Korea.

They were made in 2004 and have the headstock shape that Tokai discontinued sometime in 2003/04...

It seems possible that Tokai Japan was having parts cut in Korea and then assempling and finishing them with their own parts & electronics in Japan and putting "Made In Japan" on them with 7 digit impressed Japanese serial numbers.

However, those same Japanese guitars have some unusual characteristics for Japanese Tokias (oval cutouts for pickup tabs, 3 screw TRCs, etc.).

Maybe these were leftover cutouts after the change was made, and the factory in Korea decided to finish and sell them on their own to dealers abroad like Dillion in Canada rather than eat them??
