Just curious to hear the general consensus on these. I think these come stock on mid-range Love Rocks'.

Seems to me they are typical PAF-type copies. Medium-slightly highish output. Potted like most all current production PU's.

Personally, I don't think they're too bad. Do you guys tend to keep them in or swap them for other after-market PU's?

Wuddya think?

:D

They sounded good in the Love Rock I used to own, very similar to the Seymour Duncan 59s in my Edwards.

MKIII - A bit too bright for my taste. Lacks a bit of sweetness.

MKII - Not too bad. But not amazing. Sweeter and rounder than MKIII. Sooner or later I?ll swap them for something better for my tastes.

Am I correct in stating that in newer love rocks they're not made by Gotoh?

I quite like them, can get a really creamy overdriven sound when I want and they have a nice crunch about them without being too OTT

If you check the videow from the UK convention:

You can hear a direct comparison between some of the MK II's and some very expensive Peter Florence Voodoos, IMO the Voodoos sound a bit smoother, and for want of a better term, 'more vintage' but there really isn't a lot in it, the MKII's are great pickups.

Wow, some excellent playing there. And you right about those Peter Florence PU's.

Is there anyway to tell what model Gotoh's I have(MKII/MKIII)? All it says is "Gotoh Pickups Japan" on the bottom of the baseplate. Its from a 1998 LS70.

I know the first thing people seem to do with Chinese made Epiphones is the scrap the electronics, yet I found the Tokai's rather good. The PU's Epi puts in their China models can't compare.

Nah, those SELLITTOMESELLITTOMESELLITTOMESELLITTOME voodoos were SELLITTOMESELLITTOMESELLITTOMESELLITTOME rubbish. I'd get rid if I were you John!

You're going to have to do much better than that to brainwash me!

I think your best chance is offering Catherine Zeta Jones' little sister in PX, and even then I would refuse (probably)

PS it was AlanN playing the Les Pauls in the clips, can't take the credit for that!

8) som tokai insider told me lately that in the recent years tokai uses
the parts mostly from the company called "HOSCO" or something
in their area and this company makes most of the parts really like
the bridge and tailpiece and. even the PU's very possibly many are
made by this company HOSCO. GOTOH is the above link and today
they are still making many PUs but i personally not so sure sometimes
that tokai always gets all their PUs from GOTOH anymore.
does anyone heard about it sure? anyways i used to be confused
when there are 2 gotohs...........one is famous for the tuners and
they are world-famous. every company uses the gotoh tuners lately
at least some including fender/gibson. another gotoh is your fav PU
company here. tokais main PU company before and since? anyways
just som infos here.
