Hi all,

A guy here recently bought over a Silver Star SS-38 YS with the Ser# 110xxxx.
As I have not seen one in the wood, I wanted to examine and photograph it.
It had many anomalies compared to a Springy and the 11 ser# seemed to indicate Nagoya-built.
Routing, pickups, neck construction, lacquer and logo spray are all totally different.
I will post photos shortly but my immediate question is does any member have Nagoya-built Silver Star I can compare it to ie Serial number with either 010 or 110 beginning and spaghetti logo.
Is the logo on top of the lacquer or sprayed over?
anomalies include:
Square shoulder pickup route.
chunk missing between neck cavity and front pup cavity.
Pickups and wires : Black bobbins, F white/blue ; M wh/ylw ; B wh/bk.
C'mon guys, please help sort this out...

I will check if I have detailed pics of any Peter, if so I will send them to you.

Yes Suki, what I think that Peter means is that this guitar comes from the same factory as 1980/81 Tokai Les Paul inkies which have different features than their Hamamatsu counterparts. I think he wants to determine which features exactly are different.

Just checked my log.
1980; around 4500 produced
1981; around 3500 produced

All SS I have logged, are SS-36s.
