I've just bought a Tokia 'Rockinbetter' John Lennon style 325, and it's stunning, I've played Rickenbackers in the past and this guitar is simply the best quality copy Ricky I've seen and I've seen them all, it plays and sounds amazing.
I've got the left handed version a rare thing to find in copy Rick's and it was the same price as a Righty!!, it is very hard to tell it from the real deal both sound and look.
The Rockinbetter range also covers many of the instruments used by The Beatles from basses to Electro Acoustics, if anyone out there is interested in obtaining any of these stunning instruments PM me and I'll let you know the contact details.

This thread is 12 years old. I doubt they will see your message, but who knows?

Were these definitely made by Tokai?

The Tokai Rick copies I have seen are Korean.

Not sure about the ones badged Rockinbetter.

I would not doubt if these were made by the same folks that brought us Fakais. In other words unlicensed Korean mfr.

Unless I see pictures proving that I'd say no. :)

The story is convoluted because some Tokai distributors made it complicated by claiming they were made in "Tokai's Chinese factory" and such but even if that's true <sound of can of worms opening>, what does the Tokai name matter when it's not on the guitar, which wasn't made in Japan anyway?

Yup, except this time there is probably no Canadian or other Dillion involved, just Tokai UK and (former, known for doing shady business with the name) Tokai AUS. :)

I think I said that before - Tokai didn't do themselves any favor by allowing outsourced production under the same brand in first place and then shrouding that all in mystery. I hope the new Tokai owners/operators are really putting an end to this.

Agreed. If you build a brand based on "quality before quantity" you need a reliable way to discern what is in fact a Tokai product.

That whole deal with no serial numbers on most Korean Tokais was nuts.
