I have a re-wired tokai LP that isnt wired fully correctly. Its volume works but the tone controls do nothing.

I would give rewiring it myself a go but all the wires are black so i dont know what is what.

Is there a standard diagram for rewiring a tokai LP?

They're wired like any standard LP with humbuckers

for example

there is no color code on the wires! is this standard in tokai's? how do i know what wire is what?

Depends what model tokai LP you've got and what humbuckers it's fitted with a if they're original. Are the pickup leads braided, does each pickup have two wires or 4 wires?

Maybe try and post a picture of the control cavity we might be able to see what's wrong with it.

Its an LS 135. original pickups. Each pickup seems to have the heavy braided wire, and two black wires.

I think i figured out the issue by examining diagrams, and a bit of guesswork. both tonepots are working now. Hopefully i done it correctly.

Thanks for the help!

This is also a good resource for Les Paul wiring:

You have the option to wire it in the 50's style, which retains a bit of top end when you back the volume off a bit. Its just a slightly different implementation of the Caps in the tone circuit.

I found it made a huge difference when playing live, as the guitar maintains clarity.

good luck!
