Terribly sorry if I am using the forum incorrectly, but I wondered if someone could help me determine the value of my Tokai, please?

Model:
Tokai
Made in Korea
Double-cut Blue/Green
#7692
I purchased this in early 2006, for £399, from a shop that was local to me here in the UK. Every time I search for it, I cannot find any information through the registry etc.

It is in excellent condition, but I honestly don't think I have played it since about 2010.

I can't seem to work out how to upload my own photos, so here is a photo from another forum of what appears to be the exact same as what I purchased 16 years ago: https://yamahamusicians.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8052

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Hi!

Funnily enough, I can't see a serial number on the guitar at all. It is simply what was on the receipt for it.
I have taken photos but Imgur isn't doing me any favours at the moment.

I've tried another...

This was purchased in the UK. Store doesn't exist anymore. I have no reason to suspect it is fake, but still, I can't find much info on it at all!

I have emailed Tokai and awaiting response.

Best,

G

GuitarMan7692, are you sure that’s the serial number? Where did you find it?

I was looking at that guitar yesterday and put it in this thread:

http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=26760

I have not seen a 4 digit serial number on a Tokai.

Can you post a pictures showing that serial number in that other thread on PRS copies?

Here’s how:

They are usually on the back of the headstock. Often missing on Korean guitars.

Maybe that was the store's inventory code?

You may be correct, there. I just want to sell it anyway haha.

But I'll await the Tokai response!

What did you ask them? Value?

What did you ask the folks at Tokai? Value?

Your guitar was made almost 20 years ago in another country. I would be surprised if they had much info for you. Plus the company was sold earlier this year.

Try googling Tokai PR50 or LG50.

No, I just asked them for any info on it they have from the archives really. I'm not sure it being 20 years old and being made in Korea should stop them having a file of their models, but it wouldn't shock me if the opposite was true!

Thanks for the model tip-off!

Tokai PR50 is exactly what it is- thanks!

Can see a guy selling one on ebay for £350. That probably sounds about right.

Best,

The PR50 and LG50 are essentially the same guitars.

I assume they changed the model name from "PR" to "LG" to avoid issues with PRS?

"Q" suffix obviously means quilted maple.

Yours is flame, should be "F".

Below is that guitar in the 2010 catalog.

Yours has the less expensive bridge. VS50K.

Control knobs not countersunk.

So likely flamed maple veneer over a basswood top and a basswood back.

By 2010 I believe these were being made in China.

Your pickups may be called something different, but most likely a version of an MK4.

"LG50Q
¥ 52,500 (¥ 50 000)
BODY: Quilted Maple + Basswood Top
Basswood Back
NECK : Maple Set-Neck
FINGERBOARD: Rosewood
BRIDGE: Wikinson
PICKUPS : LSC-Fx2
CONTROLS: 1V. 1T.3 way SW
COLOR : VF, OAK, SBL, STB, SR"
