Not for distribution outside of Japan

I love my MIJ guitars but always wondered, if all of these guitars were made for Japanese distribution only then why are the controls/labels/logos written in English?

Even the stamps on tone and volume pots are in English, why?

Because they were meant to replicate US guitars that were not widely available in Japan at the time. :wink:

And there were times when the Japanese seemed to have a much better idea of which American icons were truly important than the Americans did. Certainly in the 70s & 80s anyway, till the Americans learned about their own history from the Japanese! Weird but true.

There was a demand for vintage Strats & LPs, so they made some!
