Same here, although the past few weeks I've been doing a good job of buying more guitars I don't need.
As an aside, I seem to get lucky with those hacked up Tokais. It does knock the price down, but as far as tone is concerned I love these two. I also remember reading that those circa 1990 Strats (Strat Plus?) with swimming pool routing usually sound good, possibly just because of it.
As to hacked out strats, just check out how much David Gilmour's Black Strat has been gouged over the years, especially before all the seminal stuff they did from Dark Side onwards. Nothing wrong with his tone and its almost hollow under there from when he put a humbucker between the bridge and middle circa 1972.
